The collection of copies of frescos from the 11th to the 16th century.
From the Copies of Frescos from the 11th to the 16th century Collection, only one segment is actually on show, part of the cycle in the Church of St Mary na Škrilinama by Beram in Istria. In the graveyard church of St Mary, in 1474 Master Vincent of Kastav painted and signed one of the most beautiful and valuable cycles of fresco painting in the whole of Istria. The scenes of the lives of the Madonna and Christ run along the walls of the Gothic church in two sequences. Master Vincent puts the Biblical motifs into a typical Istrian landscape with hills and little cities (Prayer on the Mount of Olives), and he interprets the scene Adoration of the Kings in a very secular manner, painting the dominant courtly train of ladies and knights in Late Gothic clothing. These Late Gothic wall paintings are characteristic of the Istrian local school of the second half of the 15th century, of which Master Vincent is the finest representative.
The copies of these frescos (on canvas) were painted by some of the well known painters of the 1950s and 1970s: Bruno Bulić, Hajrudin Kujundžić, Eugen Kokot and Željko Hegedušić.
